Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes—many clients use insurance. Coverage depends on your plan and your clinician. If we’re in-network with your insurance, you’ll typically just owe your copay/coinsurance. If we’re out-of-network, you can still use your benefits in many cases by paying out of pocket and submitting a superbill for possible reimbursement.
If you’d like, we can help you understand your options and estimate costs before you book.

  • The first session is a chance to get grounded and make a plan. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve tried before, what you want to be different, and what “better” would actually look like in your day-to-day life.

You can also ask questions about our approach, logistics, and what therapy with me would feel like. By the end, we’ll agree on initial goals and next steps—no pressure to share everything at once.

  • Yes. Therapy is confidential and your information is protected by privacy laws (including HIPAA where applicable). We don’t share what you discuss without your written permission.

There are a few legal and safety-related exceptions, such as concerns about imminent harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or if records are required by a court order. If any confidentiality limit ever comes up, we’ll talk through it with you as clearly as possible.

  • Sessions are typically 50–55 minutes. How long you stay in therapy overall depends on your goals and what you’re working on. Some people come for a focused, short-term stretch (e.g., 6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support.

We’ll check in periodically to make sure therapy is helping and adjust the plan as needed.

  • Yes. We offer in-person sessions (where available) and secure virtual (telehealth) sessions. Many clients mix both depending on schedule, travel, weather, or what feels most comfortable.

If you’re unsure which is a better fit, we can talk it through and choose what’s easiest to start.

  • Cancellations. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact us during business hours and at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to avoid paying a cancellation fee for the session. For Monday appointments, you must cancel by 12:00 p.m. on the previous Friday so we can offer that time to another client. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, you may be charged a late cancellation fee of $80.

No-Shows. If you fail to cancel and do not show up for your appointment, we will charge a no-show fee equal to the full cost of the session, as outlined in our fee schedule. If you cancel without providing proper notice, you must pay all late cancellation charges before resuming treatment. If you miss more than three appointments, you may lose your designated appointment time.
